Herman Upmann was a banker from Germany who so loved Cuban cigars that he moved to Havana in 1844 and set up as both banker and cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920's but his cigars live on as a fine example of an elegant, light to medium flavoured Habano.

H. Upmann's blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Gold medals in no less than eleven international exhibitions during the 19th Century can be found on the brand's labelled boxes.

For those of you reaching for the dictionary for the spelling of “Connoisseur” (or typing it into Google as is probably more the case these days), your suspicions will indeed be confirmed. The small error on the box, band and ribbon has been noted and will be rectified by Habanos S.A. on future production runs. This I am sure will make the current batch with the incorrect version somewhat of a valuable collector’s item.

Please note: We use photographs from across the Dominique London group, all cigars purchased via our website are from Intertabak or Cuba Cigars depending on country location and, if applicable, will have the relevant stickers.

Two prominent, gnarly veins stretch along the wrapper of this tawny-coloured toro, which burns evenly. It's earthy and floral, but also imparts notes of salt with a touch of sweetness and an underlying spice.
